Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what to use to prepare our Highschoolers (9th graders) for the upcoming tests in April. Any suggestions
would be appreciated.

Hi Kim. This is Cindy Holman from Daniel 1 Academy. The purpose of the achievement test for the high school students with Daniel 1 is to make sure they have the minimum skills in reading, English grammar and math before graduating. Therefore all graduates of Daniel 1 must score an average of at least 9.0 sometime during the 4 years of high school. That is equivalent to the beginning of 9th grade level. They get 4 chances, one a year for the 4 years of high school. We only test over reading, math and English. We do not test over science or history. There is no actual test prep materials that I know of. Hopefully the school work he has been doing for the past few years should have given him the basics in these subjects. Even so, prepping for the test would defeat the purpose of the test itself. You don't want to 'teach to the test,' you hope that the teaching you are already doing is providing him with at least a basic education and the test helps you to find out if it has. Call us at Daniel 1 if you have any other questions. We'll be glad to help you. |

Thanks Cindy. I know all of this, however as an educator and mom Iwant to make sure she knows what she needs to know before taking the test. I have ALWAYS
gotten nervous before my kids have been tested, however, it seems more "serious" with Corrie being in High School now. She has always tested well
before. We have been using SOS the past several years so hopefully she will have learned everything she needs to know. Thanks for your help.
